Some Christmas Clarity - Certified Fitness Nursing

I just received a wonderful Christmas present from some very wise nurses in business. ?They gave me some more clarity. ?Especially Kevin Ross, RN, BSN of Innovativenurse.com?. ?But I have to thank Keith Carlson of NurseKeith.com?and Carol Gino of Hopeful Healer.com?who just had a FANTASTIC must listen radio show on nurse entrepreneurs, and comparing nurses who stay miserable where they are or in what they are doing as a form of ?battered nurse syndrome? Even Santa exercises from time to time. He's got to watch his belly size! Thanks Santa for the Gift of "Clarity", it's SO valuable!

I called Kevin frustrated with yet another letter from a nurse interested in fitness, I?m always excited at first, but then she begins asking me how to get a job as a fitness nurse and/or where would they work. ?URGH! ?Why was I frustrated? ?Because I thought I was clear that I am not a ?job creator? or a recruiter for fitness nursing? but I wasn?t clear. That?s when Kevin said, ?Why don?t you just call them consultants. ?Most nurses know that term and the ones who want ?a job?, will immediately know that consulting means you create your own job (by leveraging your expertise to people and companies who want your services) and they won?t be interested and won?t waste your time or theirs?.

Brilliant. ?This answer was right in front of me. ?This is what I help others do? ?See? what they can?t. ?But this time, Kevin helped me ?see?. ?Often, your answer is so close to you, like on the ?tip of your nose?, ?you can?t see it? but someone in your FAB 5 can!

When I first decided that this what I wanted to do? help nurses, like me, interested in fitness, combine the two and make a sustainable living doing it, I thought the nurses understood that I meant that you would be ?creating your own job?, designing and delivering your Signature Fitness Nursing program to a niche market, to other health care professionals, to organizations, to companies. This what I do?.

But that?s not what happened. ?I was my fault. ?My doing. ?Because I just stated ?fitness nursing?, I attracted every nurse who used to be the grade school track and field star to nurses with Ph.D?s in exercise physiology? most ?looking for a job? as a ?fitness nurse?. ?I couldn?t understand why these nurses didn?t get that these jobs don?t exist? yet. ?And for them to begin to exist, we have to first educate the public, other health care professionals and the market of what we offer (as independent contractors, self-employed and/or entrepreneurs) and who it is we can help with a problem that is not addressed? which is working with ?at-risk? populations who want to and need to exercise, but are NOT in the gyms and clubs. ?They definitely are not training for a 5K or a fitness competition. ?They just want to keep their independence, avoid more medications and if they reduce their waists in the process, what a great ?side effect? of sustainable self-care exercise.

When I say we, I mean Fitness Nurse Consultants?

That?s right, it?s the new term I will use, not fitness nurses anymore. ?Believe it or not, the term fitness nurse is just too broad.

You know what fitness means. ?You know what nurse means. ?You know what consultant means.

I will no longer refer to the term ?fitness nurses? in what I do. ?That will automatically be replaced with fitness nurse consultants?

Hey, this is America and you can call yourself a fitness nurse if you want to.
But, to ?practice what I preach? and give more clarity to those nurses who I can best serve, ?I am narrowing my niche and ideal client and looking to work with nurse who wants to become a Fitness Nurse Consultant? ?Is that you?

This was one of the best gifts for an entrepreneur for the holidays? more clarity. Which enables your niche to find you easier and knowing I can serve you
better? because now instead of explaining about the ?no jobs as a fitness nurse? to nurses who are just looking for another job? I can focus on those nurses who understand what ?consultant? means and are ready to learn the steps to become one as a Fitness Nurse Consultant?.
