Do you tend to plan things out far in advance or wait until the last minute to make a choice? If it's the latter, researchers whose study was published in a recent issue of Journal of Consumer Research, say that not surprisingly, planners tend to make the best decisions, while those who wait until the last minute often act entirely on emotions rather than facts.
In their study of college students, those instructed to imagine renting an apartment right after graduation were more likely to go for the splurge apartment that they may or may not have been able to afford, while the group of students who were instructed to pick an apartments months before graduation, made more sensible choices.
When I think to my own life, this is definitely true. While overthinking decisions can cause its own anxiety, I do believe that giving decisions adequate time to think through is best (at least for me!).
What do you think? Are you happier making choices at the last minute or do you tend to be more of a planner?
P.S. The weird health benefit of multi-tasking. And, could this be the ultimate mood booster?
