Montana's Congressional Delegation responding to Obama?s focal points from Tuesday night's State of the Union Address.Echoing many of President Obama?s priorities, both Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester highlight the importance of job creation and working together.
?Creating jobs has to be our number one priority. So, as I watched the State of the Union the number one thing on my mind was ?how can we translate words into jobs?? says Baucus.
?I think creating jobs and strengthening our economy is going to require Republicans and Democrats to work together. With challenges come opportunities, we have incredible opportunity here to create the kind of jobs we need in the 21st century and move the economy forward in a way where our kids and grandkids can be proud,? says Tester.
While Tester and Baucus echo sentiments of Obama?s address, Congressman Steve Daines is not on the same page with our Commander in Chief.
In response to the President's State of the Union, Daines says the President's agenda is not the agenda shared by Montanans.
We all share the common goal of renewing and growing our economy,? Daines stated. ?But the President?s vision for this country is one of bigger government and more spending, not the common sense Montana values and pro-growth solutions that our nation needs. Montanans deserve real solutions, not more political rhetoric. To grow our economy, to create jobs, to get our debt under control, we need common sense Montana solutions, not more of Washington?s failed ideas. Anything less is unfair to the next generation.?
